A Family Legacy Rooted in Resilience

Our story begins with Steven Fisher, who immigrated from Odessa, Ukraine, in 1974, pursuing the American dream. After building a successful career in finance, he turned his lifelong passion for wine into a family venture. Alongside his wife, Diana, whose store Moderne Barn Wine & Spirits became a local favorite, Steven’s appreciation for fine wines grew. When Stephan graduated from the University of Miami, he took over the shop during his mother’s cancer treatment, gaining hands-on experience that sparked his entrepreneurial spirit and love for the wine industry, laying the foundation for a true father-son partnership.

Crafting Excellence, One Vineyard at a Time

From retail to production, the Fisher family’s combined experience led to the founding of Privatus Wine. Partnering with renowned winemaker Jason Welch, Steven and Stephan source single-vineyard appellation wines from some of the most prestigious vineyards across Napa Valley, Alexander Valley, Red Hills Lake County, Moon Mountain District, Sonoma County, and Monterey County. While the exact vineyard names remain under contract, the secret behind our success is no mystery. It’s the same premium juice that fills bottles retailing for two to three times the price. Every wine we produce is crafted at our custom crush facility in St. Helena, California, ensuring the highest level of quality and consistency.
